Roche 454 FLX Titanium Genome Sequencer

Pyrosequencing is currently performed on a Roche 454 FLX Titanium Genome Sequencer. The long reads generated are best suited for de novo genome and transcriptome assembly. In addition, adding molecular barcodes to samples allows an extensive capacity to multiplex, making the 454 very useful for researchers with a large number of samples as is often the case with amplicon analysis, microbial community analysis and metagenomics. In spring we will have one of the first Ion Torrent semi-conductor based sequencers, which will provide a million 100bp reads at low cost for researchers mapping expression data to reference genomes, or other smaller data set needs. We work directly with investigators to solve challenging sequencing problems.
